MAY 8, 2025 — Discover the impactful research collaboration between Dr. Amina Qutub (MATRIX Thrust Lead) and Dr. Courtney Rouse (SwRI), which is opening new doors in brain health and neurogenesis research.
Funded by the San Antonio Medical Foundation, the team developed a machine learning–based method to track brain cell development over time, helping bridge key gaps in computational neural research. Their work helps lay the foundation for future tools that could aid in assessing brain cell health and support the development of therapies for neurological diseases.

MAY 21, 2025 — Dr. Eric Brey, Dean of UTSA’s Klesse College, spoke during a virtual session sponsored by BioBridge Global and Healthcare Think Tank.
As UTSA and UT Health San Antonio expand their partnership, Dr. Brey shared how this collaboration is opening new doors for innovation at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and medicine. He discussed how this joint effort is driving breakthroughs in biomedical technology, healthcare design, and workforce development, highlighting its growing impact on the future of care in our region.

MAY 23, 2025 — We successfully hosted the inaugural NSF ScooterLab Workshop on May 19 at UTSA’s San Pedro I. Researchers, students, and professionals came together to explore how micromobility-supported sensing can drive urban innovation.
The day was filled with energy, from inspiring talks that set the tone for future collaborations to discussions and hands-on demonstrations showcasing the evolving role of sensing technologies and micromobility in shaping smarter cities.
